*NSYNC didnt beat the record they set for album sales with No Strings Attached but are still the champs - Madonna cancels a stop on her Drowned World Tour and Mariah Carey is hospitalized.

1Well *NSYNC's Celebrity album didn't beat the first week of sales record set by No Strings Attached but did manage to sell 1.88 million copies and beat every other SoundScan album except for their own. This includes sales of the Backstreet Boys' album Black & Blue, which sold 1.6 million copies its first week
last year and Eminem's Marshall Mathers CD which sold 1.7 million. The band had predicted they wouldn't be able to break the record they'd set with No Strings Attached, which sold 2.4 million its first week, but no worries cuz the best thing about not breaking your own record is that you still hold the record!

But life is not all smooth for the guys. Joey Fatone is no longer touring with the group. He is in Florida in the hospital with pneumonia. The tour is going on without Joe for now. Poor Joey has had a pretty bad year. He hurt his leg in rehearsals for the POP video and had to be replaced by choreographer Wade Robson for the dancing scenes and now he's got pneumonia. Get better soon Joey!

1Ticket holders for Madonna's New Jersey show were disappointed after the show scheduled for August 3rd was canceled due to laryngitis. Unfortunately, the show will not be rescheduled, according
to a promoter from Clear Channel Entertainment and refunds will be issued to ticket holders. Ticket holders keep your fingers crossed that Madonna's vocal chords will be ready to rock for her concert in Boston on August 7th.

1Mariah Carey's publicist said Mariah's hospitalization was due to "an emotional and physical breakdown" and she is "undergoing psychiatric care." Mariah was busy promoting her new album Glitter as well as the movie when she checked herself into the hospital.

Before checking into the hospital Mariah left a voice message on her official Web site saying, "I'm trying to understand things in life right now and so I really don't feel that I should be doing music right now." Mariah's new album Glitter comes out August 21, 2001 and the movie Glitter hits theaters on August 31, 2001.
