Who Is Meredith Edwards?

Meredith Edwards - the young country singer from Clinton, Mississippi - began showing off her talent at the age of three. Meredith Edwards' mom came to get her at her dance class one day and her teacher told her that Meredith sang Jesus Loves Me and it was really good. Meredith Edwards' mom decided to put Meredith in pageants where her talent was singing. When Meredith Edwards was five, she joined the Mississippi Show Stoppers choir and the group traveled the state promoting a local museum while singing and entertaining.

Merideth Edwards' Famous Friend

Meredith Edwards was friends with a guy in the choir, Lance Bass. Lance Bass is from Clinton too and the two sang together in the choir for years. They continued to work together even into high school when both of them joined the show choir Attache. Then, Lance went on to join a vocal group called *NSYNC and became one of the biggest pop acts of all time. But Lance Bass never forgot about Meredith, or her singing ability, and when he started his own management company, he signed her.

Meredith Edwards Gets Her Big Break

Mercury Records A&R chief Keith Stegall grabbed the talented country artist after hearing her sing in 1999. In June of 2001 the 16 year-old released her debut album, Reach, and the first single called A Rose Is A Rose is a love song about a poor girl who meets a rich guy. The album debuted at #18 on the Top New Artist Album chart and #24 on the Top Current Country Album Chart. Reach was influenced by artists like Trisha Yearwood and Martina McBride because of their strong voices. One of the producers on Reach is songwriter/producer Richard Marx who wrote *NSYNC's hit This I Promise You. These days Meredith Edwards is studying business at college in Nashville.

It included a lot of mature themes and it really connects with today's older youth. You mean violence wise? Not just that, but the show tells the stories of the characters finding themselves. Take Asami for example. A lot of people have a late relative and another relative involved in some kind of trouble. She had her relationships AND family business to take care of, which relates to some of today's youth who feel like they have the whole world on their shoulders. They're starting to have to take responsibility for things they can hardly manage, and seeing the triumph of a character like Asami is truly inspiring. Her mother's dead, her father's in prison, her boyfriend was stolen from her, and her business nearly failed. But she did not give up, which sends a positive message to today's generation of teens. Mako was not stolen from Asami he just chose Korra and everyone knows that thats what people wanted. As messed up as that sounds its the truth.
