Stromile Swift

Mar 06, 2017

He's nearly 7 feet tall, he can pull off some mind-blowing dunks, and he's got one of the coolest names in basketball. That would be Stromile Swift, the rookie forward with the Vancouver Grizzlies. Stromile (rhymes with smile) was the second player picked in the 2000 NBA draft. His combination of size and athletic ability makes him a threat to score from anywhere on the court. Through the first few games of the season, he's had some monster blocks and spectacular dunks. "The crowd goes crazier after a dunk. My favorite one is the Windmill", Stromile says. Earlier this year, he did one of those dunks in a pre-season game which had his teammates predicting he would win this year's NBA slam-dunk competition.

Stromile grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana where he was a star on his highschool basketball team. After graduating he moved on to play basketball for Louisiana State University - the same school where Shaquille O'Neal played ball. After just a year and a half of college ball, Stromile decided he was ready for the challenge and the money of the NBA. His favorite NBA team, when he was a kid, was the Houston Rockets and his favorite player was Hakeem Olajuwon.

But now his favorite team is the Vancouver Grizzlies. When he's not helping the Grizz win games, Stromile likes to play baseball and go bowling. He's also loves rap and R&B music and says his favorite group is No Limits. But Stromile has no plans to make his own rap album like Allen Iverson or Shaq. For now he's going to stick with what he does best - slamming, shooting, and shot blocking.

  • Stromile the Student: Stromile says his favorite subject in school was history, but he hated math.
  • Stromile the Eater: Before each game, he chows down on lasagna, spaghetti and chicken.
  • Stromile the Spender: The first thing Stro did after signing a million dollar contract with the Grizzlies was buy his mother a house.
