HMS Victory
A shipwreck thought to have gold worth hundreds of millions of dollars on board has been found in the U.K.’s English Channel.
The HMS Victory sank in a storm in 1744. Its location was a mystery for years, until a team of marine experts from Florida discovered it in May 2008.
Odyssey Marine Exploration uncovered the shipwreck 100 km from where the ship was believed to have sunk all those years ago, near the Channel Islands.
While the company has to give any treasure found back to the British government, it does expect a reward for its work.
