Street Fighter IV, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, and Suikoden Tierkreis

Feb 12, 2009

Keep up-to-date with all the latest video game releases! Kidzworld has all the latest games to keep watch for. This week, we spotlight three sequels, spinoffs, and remakes to classic games from the 90's.

Ten Years Later, a Street Fighter Sequel

Though we've had all sorts of "Turbos," "Alphas," and even "Turbo HD Remixes," we haven't seen a true, numbered sequel for the Street Fighter series since 1999. That is all about to change as what is already an arcade hit, Street Fighter IV, comes to the consoles this week. This game promises to return to the classic Street Fighter II gameplay while still using 3d characters and backgrounds. Sporting a new "hand-drawn" graphics style and four new characters, this one promises to continue the fighting series' epic run.

Rejoin Marth in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon

One advantage video games have over movies: Their remakes are actually better than the originals. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is a remake of the fantastic NES game, Fire Emblem. Unfortunately, you likely weren't born yet in 1990 when the original came out, but now you can play the game with better graphics, better gameplay, and even online combat! Even if you've only seen Marth in Super Smash Bros., this is a must-own DS title.

The Legendary Suikoden Series is on DS!

Suikoden Tierkreis is coming to the Nintendo DS next month, bringing with it some exciting developments for the classic RPG series (the original Suikoden recently came out for the PSP). As in the other Suikoden games, your character must gather the 108 stars of destiny, all playable characters within your party, to save the day. This edition introduces online features to the Suikoden series, allowing you to trade characters and items with other players on Nintendo Wi-Fi. Through that online mode, you can receive rare items and even a unique boss battle! Remember to check for it when it comes out in North America on March 17th.
