A Walk to Remember Movie Review

All I have to say is Britney is gonna have to pull a rabbit out of her hat to top her fellow popstar in the acting category. Mandy Moore sparkles as Jamie Sullivan in her first leading role in A Walk to Remember. This flick left me with warm fuzzies that still make me smile more than 24 hours later.

The story takes place in a small southern town and Jamie is the preacher's daughter. She wears dorky sweaters and dorkier dresses - and she doesn't give a horse's patootie that she gets made fun of by the popular kids. Shane West plays Landon Carter, who is a popular kid. He and his popular (and stupid) friends convince a kid to jump off a tower into a shallow river. The guy ends up in the hospital and Landon gets blamed. His principal makes him do all these volunteer gigs as punishment.

Landon's gotta tutor kids, clean the school and participate in the school play, all of which Jamie does by choice. So what happens when the sweet and sensible good girl spends all her time with the arrogant, ignorant bad boy? They fall in love, of course. The storyline has some typical twists and turns, but it handles them in a highly untypical manner. There are original lines and genuine emotion. You believe that love is happening to these two.

Landon's big thing is he has no faith in the world - or anything. This movie leaves you with faith (and proof) that it is possible to make a good, mushy yet meaningful teen flick.

My only complaints: Landon's mom (played by Darryl Hannah) looks like a man in drag.

The best part: Jamie's list of "Things to Do" during her life. It's very cool and I think everyone should have one! When Landon takes her to two places at once - fulfilling one of the things on her list - you wanna jump through the screen and kiss him.

This movie is a romantic love story that shows what true love really is. Mandy Moore is a great singer/actress and Shane West is the HOTTEST man alive!!!
