Experience extreme racing where even crashing your car will give you bonus points! ExciteBots has intense speed and racing action but knows that there is more to life than that.

ExciteBots: Trick Racing is a game that you must try for yourself first before trying to understand what it is like. Every race is extremely intense, with turbo speed, wild handling, and crazy tricks happening every other second.

First Things First

Just like with Mario Kart Wii, the game comes with a Wii Wheel for you to use. Unlike Mario Kart, however, there is no option to use the nunchuk. You either use the Wii Wheel or the wiimote on its side.

This means that some control is lost as the wiimote's motion sensor is not always exact. This is especially problematic when you use your robot's turbo to go faster. Turbo speed makes racing a bit wild and, though your view lengthens so that you can see further, it is still hard to figure out exactly where you should be driving. Luckily, you are allowed to plow right through the offroad sections of the race track, just watch out for those trees!

Second Isn't that Bad

The goal of the game is not to win the race, though it can help a lot. Instead, your goal is to earn a specific number of stars before the end of the race. Coming in first will just give you more stars as a bonus.

In order to earn stars, you must perform tricks while you race. Luckily, every race course is littered with opportunities, from floating bars, big jump ramps, and special events like kicking a soccer ball into a goal or throwing a dart onto a dartboard. There is always something different to do while you are racing which, when combined with turbo speed and crazy turns, can really get your heart pounding.

The stars you earn will allow you to unlock other features and modes in the game. You can collect icons and dioramas and unlock new race tracks and robots. Earning stars is easy, even crashing will give you a star! However, needed to unlock most of the game is a bit annoying and can get boring after a while. Still, there are different modes, power ups, and robots to mix things up a bit.

Third Time Lucky?

ExciteBots is the third Nintendo racing game for the Wii, after Excite Truck and Mario Kart Wii. If you like racing games, you will definitely never be bored. Each race is guaranteed to be extremely exciting and thrilling, even after your hundreth race.
