Top Picks at the 2002 NBA Draft

Dec 27, 2006

A seven foot, five inch giant from China may be the NBA's next superstar. Here's a look at some of the basketball players who will be the top picks at the 2002 NBA Draft.

Yao Ming
Yao Ming is well over seven feet tall and close to 300 pounds which makes him kind of a freak. It also makes him a natural dunking, shot-blocking and rebounding machine. Yao is fast on his feet and a good outside shooter which makes him even more dangerous. In a few years, he could become Shaq's worst nightmare. Yao Ming will likely be chosen first overall at the 2002 NBA Draft.

Jay Williams
The former Duke point guard known as "Jason Williams" now likes to call himself "Jay Williams" so people won't confuse him with the flash and dash point guard, Jason Williams, who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies. Confused? Regardless of what he calls himself, there's nothing confusing about how this former Blue Devil plays basketball. He has explosive speed and can control the pace of a basketball game. Jay Williams will probably be picked second at the 2002 NBA Draft.

Drew Gooden
Drew Gooden's nickname is "The Truth" because "his game is real - it doesn't lie to you." That's according to Drew, anyway, who led the University of Kansas in points and rebounds and helped the Jayhawks advance to the Final Four. Drew wears number 0 because he says it's unpredictable. Kidzworld predicts Drew Gooden will be picked in the top five at the 2002 NBA Draft.
