Bone: Rose Graphic Novel Review

Author: Jeff Smith
Illustrator: Charles Vess
Series: Bone
Ages: 9-12

If you thought BONE, the graphic novel series by Jeff Smith and illustrator Charles Vess, was over when Book 9, Crown of Horns, came out, well, then, you'd be … only sort of right. On August 1 the prequel to BONE, called ROSE, comes out to tell the story of what happened … before the story.

The Story (Before The Story)

BONE is the story of the three little Bone dudes who get lost in the woods and wind up battling the Lord of the Locusts to help Thorn reclaim her family's kingdom. Their story is over. But how was the kingdom lost? When did the Lord of the Locusts assume power? And how did a princess named Rose become the Grandma Ben we know in BONE?

You’ll get answers to all those burning questions in ROSE.

(ikr) Paperjam winced slightly, and then smiled. "Yeah, we're in space... Me and Dad were just out here, talking.... hey... I was wondering...  uh, have you ever heard of someone named Ink? People keep mentioning him to me, but I don't know who he is...."

"Heh, well, that's fine. Nice to meet you, kid." I accepted his hand, giving it a good shake. "So, what's up around here? I notice we're in space." Looking up, I get a good look at Paperjam's dad. "Hey! I like the coat!" I had meant it to be a genuine compliment, but it came out rather rude. Oh, well. Too late to take it back. Paperjam's dad gave me a look of disgust. (({This is getting so cute! The side plot, I mean. I love it!}))

I agree, and If you think the app is a waste of space on your tablet then delete it, and go online. You have to make your own decisions.

(PunMaster smiled. "It's beautiful Papyrus.") Error and Paperjam had been in conversation, and Paperjam was shorter than Error at the moment, probably quite a bit younger, he looked child like. Error looked a little bit older, and taller, and he wore a trench coat (still in the same style as his jacket though), and he wore Ink!Sans' scarf. Error and Paperjam looked over, and Paperjam stared at Iron for a moment, before asking something quietly. Error thought about it, before seeming to sigh, responding. Paperjam looked excited, his features brightening, and Paperjam leaped off their floating rock, landing in front of Iron. "Hi..! I'm Paperjam..! That's my Dad up there... uh... he isn't much for communicating with other people." Paperjam admitted, and then held out his hand in an offer of a handshake.
