Hockey Superstar 2009-10: Nicklas Lidstrom

Current Team: Detroit Red Wings
First NHL Team: Detroit Red Wings
Position: Defense
Birthdate: Apr. 28, 1970
Birthplace: Vasteras, Sweden

Nicklas Lidstrom's been reaching milestone after milestone for the past few hockey seasons, and 2009-2010 will be no different: he'll reach the 1,000 career-point mark (and be only the second Swedish player to ever reach this goal).

Nicklas Lidstrom

You'll find it hard to name many other hockey players who have been as consistent as Nicklas over the last 20 years - he's hardly even missed a game since joining the Detroit Red Wings in 1991. In fact, since he was drafted to the team it's never missed the playoffs. Six of those times the Wings made it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals and have won the big prize four times.

Hockey Highlights

Since the start of his 17-season hockey career Nicklas has played a whopping 1,331 games - more than any other player in NHL history (in the same number of seasons since the beginning of their careers).

They're throwing each other in the air, performing possibly dangerous stunts, not even mentioning that they have to wear those skimpy outfits in freezing weather.  And also, my sister got a severe head injury and a sprained neck while doing a stunt. That's more injured than i've seen a basketball player get.
