Book of Time #3: The Circle of Gold Book Review

When Sam rescued his father from the 15th century, he thought the worst of his problems were over. But after six months of being nearly starved in the dungeons of Dracula’s Castle, Allan Faulkner was in bad shape. His trip back to the present left him in a coma. Sam now knows that Allan’s travels through time weren’t to steal ancient artifacts and sell them for mortgage payments; they were his attempt to go back in time and prevent Sam’s mother from dying three years ago.
Blackmail
Sam is sure that the only way to bring his father out of the coma is to go back in time and rescue his mother. If he can bring her to the present, maybe his father will find the will to wake up. But just when Sam plans to leave, the evil Arkeos man kidnaps Sam’s crush, Alicia. He sends Sam a letter explaining that the only way to save her is to travel to China and Rome, and retrieve a certain Treatise. But when you’re working with a kidnapper, there’s no guarantee that they’ll keep their word.
Time Constraints
Sam immediately hurtling himself through time. On his mission he learns a few valuable skills. If he can fulfill the Arkeos man’s demands and save Alicia, then he may still have time to save his mother before they pull the plug on Sam’s dad.
The Bottom Line
The Circle of Gold is the third book in The Book of Time series. This novel is way more structured and easier to follow than the first two books. It has two intense climaxes, and Sam’s character seems stronger and more determined. Even though this book is terrific, you should definitely read the series from the beginning.
