Santa Buddies: The Legend Of Santa Paws Blu-Ray & DVD :: Review

Jul 10, 2018

Santa Buddies: The Legend Of Santa Paws is the fourth picture about talking puppies by Disney that’s gone straight to Blu-Ray/DVD. It follows the canine adventure called Space Buddies, released about nine months ago, about young golden retriever pups aboard a space shuttle headed toward the moon.

Dog Days Of Christmas

This time around, our puppy friends stay with four paws planted firmly on Planet Earth for their latest adventure. Santa Buddies: The Legend Of Santa Paws opens with some mythology: You know all about Santa Claus, but have you ever heard of his canine companion, Santa Paws? Well, he does, and this talking dog has a young son of his own - Puppy Paws - who just isn't serious about taking over and assuming all the important duties of Santa Claus' dog, including the challenges of helping to run a busy elves’ workshop in the days leading up to Christmas.

As you keep watching the movie, you learn that Christmas itself depends on the existence of a magical icicle – as long as enough people in the world believe in Christmas, the icicle stays frozen and the North Pole keeps ticking along smoothly. But when people stop believing, the icicle starts to melt – and so does the magic of the season.

Follow Puppy Paws and his five golden retriever Buddies; (Buddha, B-Dawg, Mudbud, Budderball and Rosebud) as they struggle to keep their own belief in Christmas alive, all the while evading the mean old dog-catcher (Stan Cruge) and helping a sick little boy named Andrew Astor get his own puppy friend for the holidays. Oh, and there’s also an elf named Eli, who collects Santa's mail all over the world by changing his vehicle and accent, and his boss, a small dog named Eddy, who oversees all of Eli’s work.
