Wii Holiday Gift Guide 2009

Looking for cool Nintendo Wii games to give (or get) for the holidays? Here’s a few you can’t miss! These recommendations are based on what we’ve played during the year or currently playing. Whatever the game you choose, it’s guaranteed to be hours of fun for the lucky Wii gamer in your life!

Tornado Outbreak

In Tornado Outbreak you play Zephyr the wind warrior a cyclone that completes the various levels by destroying billboards, Ferris wheels, double-decker buses and skyscrapers. You start out as a tiny twister, flinging rocks and grass, but the more you smash, the stronger you get. You can even earn the ability to hop onto larger objects to help break them up more quickly. Another challenge: you have to avoid sunlight.

Our House Party!

Here’s a home reno game with a twist. Your tool belt consists of a Wii Remote and Nunchuk you use to hammer, saw and paint as you compete in various home-improvement projects! Race through the home store picking up valuable tool upgrades and then compete in a series of mini-games to earn upgrades and increase the value of your very own custom home. Then show off your dream house to friends using WiiConnect24 and be the ultimate handyman (or woman) in your hood!

Astro Boy: The Video Game

In Astro Boy: The Video Game you play Astro Boy and take to the streets and skies on an epic adventure to save Metro City from the clutches of the evil President Stone and his robot army. Lots of unlockable and collectible elements: exclusive artwork, different versions of Astro Boy and more. Play solo and with a friend in two player co-op mode.

The Secret Saturdays: Beasts Of The 5th Sun

Based on the popular animated cartoon show of the same name, The Secret Saturdays: Beasts Of The 5th Sun features a family of cryptozoologists (scientists who study rare creatures called cryptids). Basically, the Saturday family goes around fighting to protect and hide cryptids – exotic creatures that other human beings want to exploit. The game pretty much continues with the same premise: to save the cryptids before other people get to them.

Scooby Doo! First Frights

Though the artwork is a bit cutesy, the game is 100% authentic Scooby Doo! The voice acting and story are done by the same people who have worked on the cartoon series, giving the whole game the same feel you sense from Saturday morning cartoons – right down to the silly one-liners and laugh track.

Family Party: 30 Great Games Outdoor Fun

This makes the perfect gift for any Wii-loving family. Not 30 but 33 awesome outdoor party games you can play with up to four players at one time. There’s a medal system included in the game, plus a great mix of simultaneous and turn-based games. Family Party: 30 Great Games Outdoor Fun even lets you lose the human competition and put your skills to the test in man-against-machine computer-controlled mode.

Dirt 2

This sequel to the 2007 version of the game comes packed with a huge range of features and in-game fun (like new race types, big even atmosphere, stunning locations and a new breed of off-road racing heroes – not to mention super-charged speed machines), Dirt 2 really takes off-road racing to a whole new level.

Ultimate Party Challenge

Ultimate Party Challenge lets you compete in 40 fun mini-games that test your physical, musical AND mental skills. Plus, you get to customize your own avatar, upload your Mii or choose from a bunch of fun and cool-looking characters. To play the games you have to move your body by using the DDR controller and remote. And you don’t have to play alone – up to three people can join in the fun!
