Fantastic Mr. Fox comes out on DVD on March 23, 2010. Sly Guy

The movie stars Mr. Fox, who was once one of the best fast-talking thieves around. After getting hitched and starting a family, he decides to give his old ways a rest and becomes a newspaper reporter and a family man. Actually, make that a family fox. But when Mr. Fox moves to a new den overlooking three huge farms, he enlists his partner in crime – Kylie the handyman – to help him rob three farmers blind. Unfortunately, this decision could destroy the homes and lives of all his friends and neighbors – unless Mr. Fox changes his whiskers, fast!

Lesson Learned

The animation (like we said, stop-motion) in the movie is, of course, fantastic! And the characters are really well-rounded and easy to relate to, even though many of them have tails and fur. But beyond the technical parts of the story, there’s an important underlying lesson that come across strong and clear through this DVD: it’s about paying the cost to get something you thought you really wanted, and then having to clean up the mess afterward.
