Fantastic Mr. Fox comes out on DVD on March 23, 2010. This stop-motion film, which features the voices of some heavyweight Hollywood actors, like George Clooney and Meryl Streep, may feature a fox that walks, talks and dresses like a human being – but can he cover up his true, foxy nature for long?

Sly Guy

The movie stars Mr. Fox, who was once one of the best fast-talking thieves around. After getting hitched and starting a family, he decides to give his old ways a rest and becomes a newspaper reporter and a family man. Actually, make that a family fox. But when Mr. Fox moves to a new den overlooking three huge farms, he enlists his partner in crime – Kylie the handyman – to help him rob three farmers blind. Unfortunately, this decision could destroy the homes and lives of all his friends and neighbors – unless Mr. Fox changes his whiskers, fast!

Lesson Learned

The animation (like we said, stop-motion) in the movie is, of course, fantastic! And the characters are really well-rounded and easy to relate to, even though many of them have tails and fur. But beyond the technical parts of the story, there’s an important underlying lesson that come across strong and clear through this DVD: it’s about paying the cost to get something you thought you really wanted, and then having to clean up the mess afterward.

Foxy Features

There aren’t many special bonus features that come with this DVD, but you will receive the following extras along with the full-length feature film:

  • Making Mr. Fox Fantastic: The production team takes you on a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie
  • The World Of Roald Dahl: About the author’s life and home
  • A Beginner’s Guide To Whack-Bat: An old school-style training film about a pretty complicated game
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • DVD Copy
  • Digital Copy

  • Fantastic Mr. Fox DVD Rating: 5

I watched it once on accident. I didn't like it. The reason why kids watch it because they are attracted to swearing and violence they get that from video games.
