Peasant: Shady Retreat CD Review

Feb 05, 2010

Coming out March 2, 2010, is a new album by band Peasant. It’s called Shady Retreat. The band’s lead singer Damien DeRose is just 18 years old. He got his start in music when he dropped out of school (don’t do it!), packed up his guitar and bought a sailboat in California with a friend. They planned to sail down the coast, live the simple life and let the wind take them where it wanted. Thank goodness things didn’t work out that way.

New Record

Shady Retreat picks up where Peasant’s last album, On The Ground left off. Very creative, and a lot more mature than the last.

The Songs

Ten tracks try and bring you into Damien’s world, where you’ll need to slow down to appreciate the beauty. The Distance is about the singer wondering where his friends have all gone. The End is also easy to love.

Track List

  1. Thinking
  2. The Distance
  3. Well Alright
  4. The End
  5. Pry
  6. Prescriptions
  7. Into The Woods
  8. Tough
  9. Hard Times
  10. Slow Down
