Super Monkey Ball, Shiren the Wanderer, and P.B. Winterbottom

Keep up-to-date with all the latest video game releases! Kidzworld has all the latest games to keep watch for. This week, we preview Super Monkey Ball, Shiren the Wanderer, and P.B. Winterbottom!

Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll

SEGA's famous, um, ball-rolling game has come back to the Wii, and this time you can use your Wii Balance Board to control the action! Also added this time is a new character named Jam, tons of cool mini-games, and co-op gameplay. In co-op, friends with Wii remotes can blast obstacles out of the way, while in multiplayer mini-games, you can battle your buddies at Sky Diving, Sumo Smash, or Firefighter games! If you choose to use the Wii Balance Board, the game will actually keep track of the number of "monkey calories" you burn, but I'm not really sure if they're the same as regular human calories or not. Hmm...

Shiren the Wanderer

Shiren the Wanderer is yet another incredible Japanese series of games hitting North America for the first time. Shiren, the hero, goes through randomly generated dungeons with his sidekick ferret Koppa and a few other friends, fighting beasts and whoever stands in his way. And even though the game is totally random and different every time you play, there's a serious RPG storyline backing it up, too. Be warned, though: Like you might expect from a Japanese game coming here for the first time, it's pretty tough to beat.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom

Coming out for the Xbox Live Arcade next week, The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom is a puzzle-platformer set in a silent film world. And it's way cooler than that sounds! Winterbottom has a real thing for pie, and he ends up chasing this one super-pie through a portal. To get to this pie, he has to clone himself, sort of like in Braid, that other awesome Xbox puzzle-platformer. If you want a puzzle game that'll bend your mind a little, this will certainly do that.

Advertisement is key when creating an indie game. Get you foot in the door by connecting with other game devs that might have advice to share or want to collaborate on projects together. Work to continue growing your talent as a game designer. Watch videos on what makes a good game and what doesn't? What games are most similar to yours? What can you offer that he other games can't? Make sure your game is playable, doesn't crash, offers a great user experience and leaves the player feeling accomplished, happy, and excited to tell their friends. Market your game via social media and get a good following so your next game is even better, has a strong following, and will make a lot of money. This too :) ^^
