We all know what Pokemon are, but have you ever heard of a PokeWalker? Get ready for the coolest thing to come out since … well … Pokemon! The launch of Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver gives you a chance to tap into the world of Pokemon like never before, thanks to a cool little pedometer-like device called a PokeWalker.

The PokeWalker is a new piece of hardware that comes with Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver versions. It looks a lot like a pedometer – a tiny device people clip onto their belts so they can automatically count how many steps they are taking, usually for fitness or exercises purposes. But the PokeWalker is no ordinary pedometer (although walking plays a big part in what you can do with it) – it’s special because it actually lets you transfer a Pokemon directly from your HeartGold & SoulSilver Version games onto your PokeWalker so you can take it with you everywhere you go (kinda like a virtual pet)! The more steps you take while wearing the PokeWalker, the higher your Pokemon’s level and happiness become! It’s a cool way to build up and strengthen your Pokemon and do better in the game – even when you’re technically not playing!

In other words, what the PokeWalker lets you do is “carry” a Pokemon around with you so that you can increase its level and help it do better in battle. Plus, it lets you get a bit of exercise in on the side – the more walking you do while wearing your PokeWalker, the better your Pokemon will do in battle!
