2010 Greyhound Derby

Jul 10, 2018

The Greyhound Derby was run on Saturday May 29th at Wimbleton in the 2010 English Greyhound Derby. These greyhound dogs are the fastest breed of all dogs, so they are the fastest dogs in the World. The dogs are trained and raced throughout the year and the Derby is pretty much the biggest event to crown the fastest dog in the world.

Bandicoot Blowout

A dog named Bandicoot Tipoki upset all odds to win the 2010 Greyhound Derby. It was a huge upset, and if you would have bet a dollar on Tipoki, you would have won 50 back. That’s right, there is a lot of gambling at the Greyhound derby just like in horse racing. So that may leaving you asking the question, “Is it ok for us to run these dogs around a track and gamble on who the winner will be?”

They're Off!!!They're Off!!!

As long as the animals are trained properly with care and love, racing animals isn’t much different than humans racing. Some dogs love to run and why would it be wrong to see who is the fastest of all of them. Most dogs do it at the park all the time.

The problem probably comes from the gambling part of this race. Gambling is clearly a problem in the world today. Many people become addicted to the winning and losing of money, that they don’t even really care about the dogs. Unfortunately, the gambling is the only thing that makes events like the Greyhound Derby successful financially so that they can be held. It’s a sticky situation, but if you have an opinion, you should try to voice it!

These greyhound dogs are quite amazing. You should try to check out some footage…
