So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Ep. 5

Jun 10, 2010

This week on So You Think You Can Dance, the Top 11 dancers hit center stage. Before being officially partnered up with past seasons’ all-stars, the Top 11 got the chance to perform in their own styles. There was no elimination this round. Just the Top 11 giving America the chance to get to know them.

The Performances

The first of the Top 11 dancers to strut their stuff on the dance floor was Kent and Lauren. They performed a Travis Wall jazz routine alongside all-stars Kathryn and Mark. According to Travis, the number represented Paris in the 1920s, when the dark and twisted people came out at night to play.

Next was Alexie and Melinda who danced an all-girls number with all-stars Lauren and Allison. Following them was Jose, the only dancer in the competition without formal dance training. He performed a break-dancing routine with all-stars Twitch, Comfort and, of course, Dominic (who fell right back into his roll of stalking host Cat Deeley).

Next, the show's only [kwlink 5787]ballroom dancer, Cristina, danced with Pasha and Anya—two former contestants who eventually became choreographers on the show.

Alex Wong and Billy Bell, two contestants who turned down their spots in the Top 20 in previous seasons, performed a contemporary routine with all-star Ade. But it wasn’t just any contemporary. It was choreographed by the amazing Mia Michaels. Like all of her pieces, the routine had a story. It showed dance and life through the ages, from child to man to elderly.

Finally, Adechike, Ashley and Robert closed the show with a snappy and snazzy jazz routine with all-stars Neil and Courtney.

It looks like this season has a lot in store. Tune in next week when the Top 11 battle it out for a spot in the Top 10.
