Monkey Island 2
It may have originally been released in 1991, but Monkey Island 2: Special Edition is bringing the fun back just like it were totally new. High-def graphics, new music, and full voiceover take it out of the DOS era onto your Xbox 360, PS3, or PC this week! Monkey Island is a series of adventure games, focusing on clever puzzle-solving and the most hilarious dialogue you may ever hear in video games. Wannabe pirate Guybrush Threepwood is in a mortal struggle with the Dread Pirate LeChuck, and the story will take twists and turns you'd never expect from there. Old-school gameplay can still feel so new!
Despicable Me
Like the Despicable Me movie coming out next week, the video game focuses on Gru, the #2 super villain who's trying to become #1. Unfortunately, for him, that spot is taken by Vector, and they'll do anything to foil one another's evil plots. Through action and puzzle gameplay, you control Gru and sabotage Vector's plans and even his hideout with the help of your (kind of) reliable minions. Though you spend most of the game solving puzzles on foot, you will also fight Vector in the air, playing through soaring dogfights.
Despicable Me Video Game
Furry Legends
Furry Legends gets the ball rolling this week for the Wii's Wiiware download service, a physics-based puzzle platformer. You play as any of a number of different ball-shaped characters, each with their own abilities to conquer the obstacles ahead. With 2D gameplay and 3D graphics, the game is simple to start and hard to complete, but a humorous storyline will certainly encourage you to play on. Take Sonic, LocoRoco, and the Wii and mash them all together, and you might get something a bit like Furry Legends. Sounds like a good combination to me. (Check out the game trailer, below.)
