Team of the Week

Dec 27, 2006

The Oakland A's are going for a record winning streak, the LA Sparks are on the verge of repeating as WNBA champs and Team USA is wiping the floor with everyone at the World Basketball Championships. Which one of these teams should be Kidzworld's Team of the Week? what you think or vote in the online poll above.

Oakland A's
Now that those whiny millionaire baseball players have decided not to go on strike, it doesn't look like there's much that can stop the Oakland A's. The A's have won 15 in a row since July 15th and have moved on top of the American League's West Division. With baseball's best pitching staff, the A's could set a new record for consecutive wins and should be the favorites to win the World Series.

The LA Sparks
The LA Sparks are on the verge of winning their second straight WNBA title after winning the opening game of the finals over the New York Liberty 71-63. As usual, Lisa Leslie was the go-to gal for the Sparks. She had 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. More importantly, it helped her team get nominated as the Kidzworld Team of the Week.

US Basketball Team
The World Basketball Championships tipped off in Indianapolis on August 29th and the team of NBA superstars on Team USA wasted no time showing they are the basketball team to beat. The US pasted Algeria 110-60 on the opening night of the tournament. Paul Pierce led the way with 22 points in just 18 minutes. The chances of anyone beating the USA at the World Basketball Championships are about as good as the Chicago Bulls making the NBA playoffs. It's just not gonna happen.
