Get the Enigma Stone in Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver and Catch Latias and Latios!

From now until August 27th, 2010, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver players will have a chance to catch Latias and Latios in their game. This is thanks to the Enigma Stone, a mystery gift that you can get from Nintendo Wi-Fi Club.

First Things First

In order to use the Enigma Stone, you will need to have the National Pokedex, which can be earned after beating the Elite Four. Even if you haven't beaten the Elite Four, you can still enable Wi-Fi for your DS and download the Enigma Stone. Just go to the main menu (where you choose to load your game or start a new game) and go down to "Mystery Gift". Select "Nintendo WFC" and you'll unlock the stone! Note that if you already have more than 2 Wonder Card items, you won't be able to get the stone.

Once the stone is downloaded, you can pick it up from a delivery man at any Poke Mart location. It will be stored in the "Key Items" section of your bag.

Gotta Catch 'em All!

If you are playing HeartGold and have beaten the game, you should already see Latias roaming around the Kanto area. Similarly, if you are playing SoulSilver, Latios will be flying around waiting to be caught. Only with the Enigma Stone can you capture the other half of the pair.

Take the stone to the Pewter City Museum of Science, where you will meet up with the wandering Pokemon Champ, Steven Stone. Talk to Steven and he will get a researcher to look at your stone, whereupon you will discover that it is actually the Soul Dew! After you get the Soul Dew back, exit the museum and you will encounter Latios (if you are playing HeartGold) or Latias (if you are playing SoulSilver). Don't worry if you knock out the pokemon, it will keep returning to the same spot until it is captured. Still, it is better to save before you try to capture it and simply reload the game to avoid wasting pokeballs.
