This Week In Sports :: The Hype on Hall

Sep 23, 2010

This week in sports looks at some hype brewing in the new hockey and football seasons. Baseball is almost ready for playoffs and a certain surfer has a chance to win his 10th World Champion title. Check it out...

Hockey Hype

Hype on HallHype on Hall

#1 Draft pick in the NHL Taylor Hall has scored goals in all pre-season games for the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton hasn’t had this much hype about a hockey player since Wayne Gretzky joined the team in the 70s. I wonder if Taylor can bring Edmonton out of the basement and put them back in the playoffs.

Woah Texas!

Awesome AndreAwesome Andre

The Houston Texans are 2-0! Down 10 points against Donovan McNabb and the Washington Redskins, quarterback Matt Schaub rallied the Texans to tie the game late in the 4th quarter. With only 2 minutes to play, Matt threw a touchdown to Andre Johnson that sent the game into overtime. In OT, the Texans nailed a field goal and now they lead AFC South. With the Dallas Cowboys at 0-2, maybe the Texans will steal some Cowboys fans as Texas’ only shot at the Super Bowl this year.

MLB Playoff Race

Twins on TopTwins on Top

Less than 10 games remain in the 2010 Major League Baseball season. The American League has already been decided as the Yankees, Devil Rays, Twins and Rangers will all head to the playoffs. In the National League the Reds and the Phillies are in, but there is a tight race for the last two spots between the Giants, Braves, Padres and even the Rockies have a shot event though it’s a long shot.

Kelly Takes Trestles

Slater SlashingSlater Slashing

Kelly Slater is the number one surfer in the World again. Kelly won the 2010 Hurley Pro at Trestles in California. His win made him jump into the lead over Jordy Smith in the World Rankings for the #1 Surfer of the 2010 season. There are still 4 more events this year, but Kelly is looking tough to beat and he might just win his 10th World Champion title.
