The Vampire Diaries :: Season 2, Episode 8
Elena is kidnapped, three new vampires appear and Damon declares his love. Find out what happened on this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries.
It was tough to follow last week’s epic episode of The Vampire Diaries, but the show pulled through and even introduced three new vampires! This week’s episode picked up where last week’s left off, with Elena being kidnapped by a mysterious masked man. We learn that Elena was taken by two 500-year-old vampires, Rose and Trevor, who hope to give Elena to one of the “originals” (apparently the first vampires) in order to secure forgiveness for something that happened in the past.
Doppelicious
While being held hostage, Elena learns that in order to break the curse that is captured in the moonstone, the “originals” need to sacrifice a Petrova doppelganger, which would be accomplished by killing Elena.
The Vampire Diaries
In order to rescue Elena, Bonnie casts two powerful spells. The first one helps Damon and Stefan locate her, while the other sends a secret message to let her know help is on the way. The spells exhaust Bonnie and leave her unconscious. Jeremy comes to her rescue and their budding romance continues to develop.
Road Trip
Stefan and Damon declare there is no better reason to die than trying to save Elena, and prepare themselves to face a couple of old vampires. During the trip, Stefan tries to convince Damon to admit he is in love with Elena. While he doesn’t admit it, he doesn’t deny it either. The Salvatore brothers team up and rescue their girl, although they may have angered the “originals” in the process.
Love is in the Air
Once Elena is safe, she and Damon exchange longing looks, but Stefan jumps in the middle before they have time to embrace. Later that night Damon pays Elena a visit in her bedroom to deliver her necklace full of vervain, which had been ripped off by the other vampires. Before he gives it back he tells her he loves her but knows Stefan is better for her so he erases her memory and disappears. With Stefan momentarily out of the picture, no one can deny that Elena and Damon are becoming closer than ever.
