The Vampire Diaries :: Season 2, Episode 13

Feb 03, 2011

Choosing Sides

This week on The Vampire Diaries, Tyler’s friend Jules lets him in on a little secret: the Salvatore brothers killed his cousin Mason. Upset, Tyler turns his back on Caroline and tries to avoid the rest of the vampires. Stefan tries to explain the situation to him, but not before Jules and her werewolf boyfriend kidnap Caroline (and shoot her in the head, OMG).

Bonnie finally returns to the show, and is upset to find out that her fellow witch friend Luka is in cahoots with Elijah. Luka’s dad tells Bonnie that they want to work with her to protect Elena, but she obviously doesn’t believe him. In the end he proves his allegiance and steps in to help Damon and Stefan save Caroline (he can influence werewolves the way Bonnie can influence vampires). After Tyler chooses the other werewolves over Caroline, their relationship finally comes to an end.

Family Ties

Last week, Stefan left to find Isobel, but instead returned with Elena’s uncle John, who finally confirmed that he is indeed her father. John doubts Elena’s deal with Elijah and thinks that “the originals” won’t follow through on their promise. He tells Damon that “the originals” can be killed with a dagger and ash from a white oak tree. The dagger must be dipped into the ash and then stabbed into their hearts.

Turns out, John has some sort of deal going on with Katherine. He visits her in the tomb and tells her that he passed on the message to Isobel. John also promises to get Katherine out of the tomb as soon as possible. In other news, Elena and Damon spend a lot of quality time together this episode (and share a couple steamy looks), which has everyone thinking that the long-awaited romance may be on the horizon. Let’s hope it comes sooner rather than later.

Next week on The Vampire Diaries, Stefan and Elena go away for the weekend but are followed and Jules explains more about the werewolf curse and the moonstone. Stay tuned for more Vampire Diaries.
