Creative Sports

They say that creativity is dying. Video games, Internet sites, cell phone apps, and never-ending cartoons on TV have made everybody boring. No one is coming out with any new ideas. Just think of it… when was the last time a new sport was invented? Well enough is enough… let’s put down all our gadgets and gizmos and put our brains to work. Let’s make some creative sports.

Skills to Score

To design a sport, the first thing you should do is figure out what kind of skill you would like to showcase in your sport. For example… soccer showcases kicking a ball. Pretty simple right? Well soccer is now the most popular sport in the world so even the simplest skill can evolve into something spectacular with the proper rules and features.

Regulating the Rules

Rules can be easy to invent, and they also can be very complex. Can you imagine how creative the person who invented baseball was? In baseball, the pitcher has to throw a ball to a batter who has to try and hit the ball with a bat so he can run around the baseball diamond to score a point… it has got to be the most creative sport ever!

Horse Manure Hockey

Old School HockeyCourtesy of Richard Brodeur

Can you believe that hockey used to be played with a frozen piece of horse manure in stead of a rubber hockey puck??? To be creative, sometimes you just have to work with the junk lying around your backyard to invent something special.

Let's Invent

Just for fun, let’s invent a sport right now! Find a ball… any ball will do. Let’s keep this simple so we’re going to showcase running and throwing so grab your running shoes. Now here are the rules:

  • Play this game 'one on one' with a friend.
  • Make a court with a centerline
  • Each player has a target at their end of the court (it can be anything… a pole, a garbage can, or a little brother
  • Now the object of the game is to hit your opponents target without crossing the centerline
  • You get a point for every time you hit the target and then the other person can try to score

Kidzworld Kitchey

Wow and there you have it… a brand new sport!!! Kidzworld will call it Kitchey. ESPN will be covering all professional Kitchey by the year 2020. You could be the Lebron James of Kitchey if you help promote Kitchey by playing it and help spread the game across the world…

Ok, LOL, that’s not the point, but maybe you can come up with a sport that is more fun than Kitchey and who knows… your sport could grow into something like the NBA or FIFA!!! If you do make a sport, send in the details to Kidzworld and we will tell the world all about your sport!!!

I was a cheerleader for 2 years until  I aged out, but let ,e tell you, they were 2 of the best, sweaty and most fun years I have ever had
