Kendré took a break from TV acting to finish out high school, and then turned to rapping

Kidzworld: When did you first start performing?

• Kendré Berry: I had my very first music performance at a huge club party about 3 years ago.

KW: Lots of fans probably know you from TV, have you always been interested in music as well?

• Kendré: I've been acting since I was 12 and doing music since I was 13. I've always been interested in music but didn't decide to take it serious until I took a break from acting when I was 17.

KW: What made you want to change the focus in your career?

• Kendré: Well after being on the TV show "Girlfriends" for two years and having it come to a sudden unexpected end because of the writer's strike, my parents and I decided to take a break since it was perfect timing for me for go back to regular school and enjoy my senior year of high school in a real school. So while I wasn't acting, I took my creative energy and put it into music since I had a full studio in my bedroom. So by the time I graduated I had fallen in love with music and decided to pursue that and go back to acting later.

KW: How would you describe your new album You Look Like A Nerd?
