Chace Crawford had a normal childhood. He was raised in Dallas, Texas and attended a regular high school where he played football and golf. After high school he went to Pepperdine University and majored in broadcast journalism, thinking he might like a career in entertainment. While he was in university Chace’s mother encouraged him to start acting. He got an agent and pursed acting full time.
Becoming Nate
In 2006 Chace had roles in two low-budget films before catching the eye of Gossip Girl’s casting director. A relative nobody, Chace was very lucky to land the much wanted role of Nate Archibald. Gossip Girl focuses on the lives of rich and privileged Upper East Side teens as they deal with love and life. Chace’s character Nate comes from a wealthy family that is very involved in politics. His parents want him to attend Dartmouth College but he wants to try something different. The show follows his love triangle with girlfriend Blair and her best friend Serena. In its fifth season, Gossip Girl is still going strong.
Movie Magic
Recently, Chace has become more interested in making movies. He will appear alongside Elizabeth Olsen (Ashley and Mary-Kate’s younger sister) in the upcoming Peace, Love & Misunderstanding; with Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison in What to Expect When You’re Expecting; and beside Katie Holmes in Responsible Adults. In 2009 he also starred in Leona Lewis’ music video for ‘I Will Be’. See if you can spot him in the video below:
