Disney's New Groove :: Games, Movies & More!

Disney's been around forever and so have all your fave characters - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and more. Disney has come up with classic villains, funny jokes and more movies than you can shake a stick at. But Disney's stuff reeks of retro. They've been redoing Peter Pan, releasing 'classic' flicks and, generally, sticking to what's worked.

But now Disney is trying something new, and it's really cool. The first step in the right direction is working with Squaresoft (the company behind the Final Fantasy games) to create their wicked new Playstation 2 game - Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts mixes Final Fantasy anime characters and plots with the classic Disney heroes and villains. It's an awesome adventure that takes all your fave Disney legends and mixes them up in one story, with you as the hero.

The animated movie, Spirited Away, is another big change for Disney. Rather than sticking to the kind of animated flicks they've been making for the past three-gazillion years, they've actually released a full-fledged anime movie. Spirited Away is in theatres now and it's a very cool, PG-rated, fairy tale.

In case Spirited Away isn't your deal, keep your peepers peeled for Disney's Treasure Planet on November 27, 2002. It's the story of the original Treasure Island but set in deep space with cyber pirates, jet-powered sailing ships and a flying skateboard with a rocket attached (Tony Hawk eat your heart out!)

Treasure Planet is also coming to a PC, Playstation and PS2 near you in November, 2002. It'll let you dive, headfirst, into Disney's cool, new world. And when it comes out, Gary's gonna have the cheats, secrets, hints and walkthroughs you need to beat it!

What do you think of Disney's new groove? Is it hot or not? Is it here to stay or gone tomorrow? Take our poll and let us know!
