Sterling Beaumon Q&A

Sterling Beaumon has been acting on stage and since he was a baby, and is most well known for his role as Young Ben on the hit TV series Lost and for the Disney movie Mostly Ghostly, but now this 16-year-old is unlocking the mystery of fame with a starring role a new hit series based on a classic board game, Clue! Find out more in his Kidzworld Q&A.

KW: What made you first interested in acting?

  • Sterling: I did theatre in San Diego and from then on I knew I wanted to perform onstage.

KW: You’re going to be on a new show based on the board game“Clue”, can you tell us what it’s like?

  • Sterling: It's really cool. The show is based loosely on the classic game, but with six teen detectives who find they have stumbled on more mysteries than they could ever imagine.

KW: What character do you play on the show?

  • Sterling: Seamus (Mr. Green).  He is the rebel, wise-cracking, bad boy who has a way with the ladies

KW: Do you like Clue (the board game) or do you have another fave game?

  • Sterling: I do love Clue. I think I was the only one of the six kids who had played it before.  I have also always loved Battleship.

KW: Do you feel similar to your character?

  • Sterling: I am in some ways, but I don't really skateboard and I was never suspended from school like Seamus.

KW: You played Young Ben on Lost, were you a fan of the show?

  • Sterling: Funny. At first, I was not.  In fact, I was mad that it was pre-empting another show that I was guesting in at the time. But then I ended up watching the first two episodes after I booked it and was TOTALLY hooked!

KW: What is something most people don’t know about you?

  • Sterling: I crack my knuckles and my neck.

KW: You’ve had parts in many TV shows, which was your favorite to work on?

  • Sterling: Well, besides Clue, I would have to say LOST because I loved the show so much and the setwas in Hawaii.Though, I have to say like all the shows I get to work on for different reasons.

KW: Who would you ideally like to work with in the future?

  • Sterling: Definitely Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Jason Siegal

KW: What is some of the best advice you’ve received since becoming an actor?

  • Sterling: Feel your character and don't "act".

Your Fave...

Movie: The Hangover

Book: To Kill a Mockingbird

Food: Quesadillas with HOT peppers

Color: GREEN- of course!

It included a lot of mature themes and it really connects with today's older youth. You mean violence wise? Not just that, but the show tells the stories of the characters finding themselves. Take Asami for example. A lot of people have a late relative and another relative involved in some kind of trouble. She had her relationships AND family business to take care of, which relates to some of today's youth who feel like they have the whole world on their shoulders. They're starting to have to take responsibility for things they can hardly manage, and seeing the triumph of a character like Asami is truly inspiring. Her mother's dead, her father's in prison, her boyfriend was stolen from her, and her business nearly failed. But she did not give up, which sends a positive message to today's generation of teens. Mako was not stolen from Asami he just chose Korra and everyone knows that thats what people wanted. As messed up as that sounds its the truth.
