About the Movie
America’s favorite arctic herd is busy decorating for the holiday season. In his rush to help, Sid destroys Manny’s favorite decorations. Manny is so upset he convinces Sid he is now on Santa’s naughty list. Sid, Crash, Eddie and Peaches take off for the North Pole to plead their case to Santa. Meanwhile, Manny, Ellie and Diego worry over Peaches’ safety and race to find her. Back at the North Pole, Sid and his crew accidentally destroy Santa’s Workshop on Christmas Eve, and it’s up to these newfound friends to orchestrate a Christmas miracle.
Comedian Ray Romano provides the voice for Manny, the woolly mammoth. Last week he chatted with Kidzworld about his favorite holiday memories and why he chose Ice Age in the beginning.
The directors of the original Ice Age approached Ray Romano as soon as they had a finished script. Ray immediately wanted to be involved and was excited to take on the role of Manny.
“It had a nice story. It had a nice moral. It had a nice message,” Ray said.
But, he couldn’t have predicted the success the franchise found. Nearly 10 years later, there have been two Ice Age sequels with a third (Ice Age: Continental Drift) planned for the spring of 2012. Ray was excited to be a part of Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas, since he has such fond memories of the holidays. His favorite holiday flick? Charlie Brown Christmas.
“It's very nostalgic for me to see it and it's still on now. It still holds up. My kids watched it when they were at that age and pretty soon my grandkids are going to watch it,” he said.
