American Country Awards 2012 Recap

Country music celebrated its rise in popularity at the 2012 American Country Awards in Las Vegas on December 5. Fan favorites won in most categories, with a few surprises along the way.

Jason Aldean won huge with six awards, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year by a Male Artist and Music Video of the Year. He had eight nominations in total, tied for the most with the Zac Brown Band. Jason Aldean will be celebrating his win on tour, which kicks of early January.

Three American Idol alum also took home important awards! Country sweetheart Carrie Underwood won three awards, including Female Artist of the Year.

Scotty McCreery, winner of Season 10, won New Artist of the Year, while Kelly Clarkson’s duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Jason Aldean won her Vocal Collaboration Single of the Year.

Lady Antebellum, who won a Grammy in November, won Group of the Year last night. Taylor Swift had six nominations but did not win in any category.
