Elizabeth Olsen Bio

The younger sister of super star siblings Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Elizabeth may have followed her famous twin sisters into the spotlight, but she has carved out her own path to fame. Elizabeth Chase Olsen (or “Liz” to her friends and family) was born in Sherman Oaks, California. Her dad is a mortgage broker and her mom is a personal manager. Elizabeth took ballet, singing and acting lessons and much like her starlet sisters, found she had a talent for it! By eight years old she was already taking theater and acting in some of her older sisters’ productions.

Elizabeth told Collider.com: I was a theater camp kid. It’s all that my friends and I did. We were always creating movies and plays on the playground. Instead of playing on the playground, we were rehearsing musicals that we wrote. I was always surrounded by creative people, growing up here in the Valley, and I just had teachers who were really great in high school and that gave me the confidence to pursue it for real, as opposed to a fun fantasy.

Theater Teen

Elizabeth continued to pursue theater as a teenager with The Atlantic Theater Company. She attended High School at Campbell Hall High and after went on The Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, graduating in 2010. It wasn’t long after graduating that Elizabeth’s acting talents started catching the eye of the indie film scene.

Martha Marcy May Marlene

2011 was a big year for Elizabeth, she starred in the indie film that showcased her talent called Martha Marcy May Marlene, a story about a young woman who leaves a cult and reunites herself with her family only to be haunted by the memories of her time with the group. She also starred in Silent Hill, a horror flick about a girl who gets terrorized after being trapped in her family’s lake house. And that’s not all, Elizabeth is just picking up steam, she has two films slated to be released this year: Red Lights and Liberal Arts. Even further on the horizon Elizabeth is also set to star in a film with Dakota Fanning called Very Good Girls that won’t be due out til 2013.

Lately there have been rumors that Elizabeth is dating True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard, but after growing up in the limelight with her star studded sisters, Elizabeth isn’t telling the paparazzi anything and says don’t believe what you read!

"I grew up knowing that everything that was written was fake and so I don't even read any of those things, So, for me it's just not part of my life. I don't want it to be part of my life."
