Gossip Girl: Season 5, Episode 24 :: The Return of the Ring

May 15, 2012

This week on Gossip Girl (Season 5, Episode 24), Blair must decide once and for all between Dan and Chuck. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “The Return of the Ring,” which aired on May 14, 2012, to discover what you missed.

Blair's Choice

Blair and Dan’s relationship is on the rocks. Especially after Gossip Girl posted bits of Blair’s private diary which stated her true feelings for Chuck. Dan tells her to meet him at the Sheppard’s divorce party later that night to either tell him that she loves him, or end their relationship. Blair is torn. But after a heart to heart with her mother, she finally chooses Chuck. But will Chuck choose her?

Serena's Sabotage

Meanwhile, Serena is trying to ruin Blair and Dan’s relationship from the other side. She convinces Dan that Blair chose Chuck - even before she did - and seduces him. It’s not until afterward that Dan notices Serena’s phone, recording the whole intimate encounter. Disgusted by Serena’s constant meddling, Dan leaves. He asks Georgina for help with his new book about Manhattan’s elite. Meanwhile, Serena skips town.

Chuck's Priorities

Chuck is furious. After his father faked his death, Chuck kept Bass Industries and the Empire up and running. But now, even though Chuck saved his life, Bart announces that Chuck will no longer have a hand in running the company. He blames Chuck's feelings for Blair, making Chuck re-evaluate his priorities.

Lily's Decision

Meanwhile, Bart is pursuing a relationship of his own. Since Bart isn’t dead, he and Lily are still legally married. Now Lily must choose which marriage to annul. Rufus’s marriage, which is already on the rocks; or her marriage with Bart, which was on the verge of ending when he “died.” Ultimately, Lily chooses Bart.

Gossip Girl Fashion

It included a lot of mature themes and it really connects with today's older youth. You mean violence wise? Not just that, but the show tells the stories of the characters finding themselves. Take Asami for example. A lot of people have a late relative and another relative involved in some kind of trouble. She had her relationships AND family business to take care of, which relates to some of today's youth who feel like they have the whole world on their shoulders. They're starting to have to take responsibility for things they can hardly manage, and seeing the triumph of a character like Asami is truly inspiring. Her mother's dead, her father's in prison, her boyfriend was stolen from her, and her business nearly failed. But she did not give up, which sends a positive message to today's generation of teens. Mako was not stolen from Asami he just chose Korra and everyone knows that thats what people wanted. As messed up as that sounds its the truth.
