Spider-Man Is Ready For Summer!

Check out June’s Hero Up Activities and be Spider-Man Ready for Summer!

To be a superhero, you’ve got to be super!  That means you have to take care of yourself and others.  Here are some fun tips that will have you in tip top superhero shape in no time!

Ask your parent or guardian to help you plan a week of tasty and healthy treats.  Learn which foods will give you the most energy, and be sure to share the healthy and yummy treat recipes with your friends.

Next time your dog needs a walk, take him on a run instead.  You’ll both get the exercise you need, and your furry pal will be wagging his tail all day in delight.

Are you playing a sport this weekend?  Make sure everyone on both teams knows they are doing a super job with high fives all around.  Encourage your friends to do the same!

Stuck inside because of dreary weather?  Spider-Man wouldn’t be bored, and neither should you.  See how fast you can scale your bedroom wall with the Spider-Man speed climb.

Don’t forget to head over to www.heroup.com.au and www.heroup.co.nz to complete Spidey’s activities.  Have your parent or guardian help you upload a picture of you completing one of Spider-Man’s fun tasks and you’ll be entered to win a cool prize pack which includes a mega blaster web shooter with glove, 1 FX mask, 1 spider sense chest light, and a Spider-Man electronic figure.  What are you waiting for?  It’s time to “hero up” with Spider-Man!

Many of the reviews and critics say it's bad because they are only looking at it from 'comic to movie' perspective. It was still a really cool movie and you should go see it. I'd have to agree with this. The movie itself was great. I think some people looked at it poorly because they were expecting something more similar to the older films or comparing it too hard to the comics. I personally think that it was a great way to reinvent some of the characters.

"It's so hard to talk when you want to k-ll yourself. That's above and beyond everything else, and it's not a mental complaint-it's a physical thing, like it's physically hard to open your mouth and make the words come out. They don't come out smooth and in conjunction with your brain the way normal people's words do; they come out in chunks as if from a crushed-ice dispenser; you stumble on them as they gather behind your lower lip. So you just keep quiet.” Ned Vizzini, "It's Kind of a Funny Story"

“Isn't there something in living dangerously?' There's a great deal in it,' the Controller replied. 'Men and women must have their adrenals stimulated from time to time.' What?' questioned the Savage, uncomprehending. It's one of the conditions of perfect health. That's why we've made the V.P.S. treatments compulsory.' V.P.S.?' Violent Passion Surrogate. Regularly once a month. We flood the whole system with adrenin. It's the complete physiological equivalent of fear and rage. All the tonic effects of murdering Desdemona and being murdered by Othello, without any of the inconvenience.' But I like the inconveniences.' We don't,' said the Controller. 'We prefer to do things comfortably.' But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.' In fact,' said Mustapha Mond, 'you're claiming the right to be unhappy. Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have ######## and cancer, the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind.' There was a long silence. I claim them all,' said the Savage at last. Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. 'You're welcome,' he said.”

"There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there."
