So You Think You Can Dance: Season 9, Episode 6 :: Top 20 Revealed

Jun 28, 2012

This week on So You Think You Can Dance (Season 9, Episode 6), the judges announce the top 20 dancers, who perform live in front of guest judge Zooey Deschanel. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “Top 20 Revealed,” which aired on June 27, 2012, to discover what you missed.

Changes to SYTYCD

SYTYCD is doing things a little bit different this season. First, they’re doing away with their results episode. And second, instead of the traditional winner, there will be a male winner and a female winner at the end of the season.

The Top 20

This week the judges determined the dancers' fate: who would make it into the top 20 and perform on the live SYTYCD stage, and who would be cut from the competition? They made some tough cuts, but rounded off the top 20 with a great variety of dancers:

  • Alexa Anderson
  • George Lawrence II
  • Will Thomas
  • Amber Jackson
  • Nick Bloxsom-Carter
  • Witney Carson
  • Lindsay Arnold
  • Eliana Girard
  • Daniel Baker
  • Chehon Wespi-Tschopp
  • Janelle Isis
  • Aubrey Case
  • Tiffany Maher
  • Matthew Kazmiercsak
  • Dareian Kujawa
  • Janaya French
  • Amelia Lowe
  • Brandon Mitchell
  • Cole Horibe
  • Cyrus “Glitch” Spencer

The Performances

The top 20 dancers divided into their genres and performed choreographed routines that weren't judged. Later the top 10 girls performed a contemporary piece my Travis Wall, and the top 10 boys performed a jazz number by Sonja. But the routine of the night had to the finale, which incorporated all 20 dancers, choreographed by the beloved Mia Michaels. Nigel said it best in his critique of this piece: “welcome home, mama.”

Are You a Dancin' Machine?

  • I've got the moves and the groove!
  • I dig the tunes, but I don't dance.
  • I have a few moves, but I'm no pro.
  • Heck no, I've got two left feet.

In the end Rapunzel and the guy fall in love. But in Brave she didn't need a man to be happy. She was the strong one not a prince. She was smart and confident. I love that. So even though Tangled was really funny i will always pick Brave. That's a really good point ^-^ I still like Tangled better. The plot made more sense and was better written (in my opinion though) I thought the humor was better as well; definitely a lot less crude! Also, the lack of songs in Brave bummed me out... it is a Disney Princess Movie :/ (Don't argue that it's Pixar!) Wait you think because it's a Disney movie there has to be singing!? Really that's dumb. Ok that Iis just my opinion. But really that's dumb.
