The cartoon cast of Madagascar is back for a romantic Valentines Day-themed adventure in Madly Madagascar. Find out more in the Kidzworld Review!

Madly Madagascar

In this all-new Valentine's adventure, the entire Madagascar gang is back to celebrate love. Madagascar fans will quickly clue in that this latest holiday special is set before Madagascar 3 since the animals are still hanging out in Africa. Alex the Lion (voiced by Ben Stiller) spends lots of time writing and sending Valentines, but quickly gets the blues when he doesn't seem to be getting any back, meanwhile Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) is trying to put together the perfect Valentine for his girlfriend Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock) is trying his best to stand out from the pack in order to win over a the new opaki in town. Things take a wild turn though when King Julien the Lemur and his trusty pack of penguins promise love for everyone with a bottle of special love potion no.9 falls from the sky.

Bonus Features

If you're left wondering "what's next" after watching the main feature, the Madly Madagascar DVD has a couple of Dreamworks' shorts included. Check it out below:

  • First Flight: A story about an obsessive compulsive commuter and his tiny bird friend.
  • Hammy's Boomerang Adventure: A fun adventure with a crazy little squirrel named Hammy.

The Bottom Line

Madly Madagascar will be a treat for die-hard fans, but the film is only 22 minutes long which may leave most people wishing there a little bit more to this DVD. The short films included are fun, with Hammy's Boomerang Adventure being the shining star out of the two, but both of these shorts are related to the Dreamworks film Over the Hedge, and have nothing to do with the Valentine's theme!

Madly Madagascar DVD Rating:3
