Lady Antebellum Band Bio

Feb 04, 2013

Lady Antebellum are a Nashville, Tennessee-based country band that took the pop charts by storm over the last few years with country-flavored pop hits. Find out more about them in their Kidzworld Bio!

Family Affair

Lady Antebellum is comprised of three members, Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and vocalist Hilary Scott. Hilary is the daughter of famed country singer Linda Davis, and Charles is the brother of pop country artist Josh Kelley. Lady Antebellum formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2006. Charles and Dave were old school friends who decided to team up and write and make music together. They met Hilary at a show where she recognized them from MySpace, and they invited her to join the band. The name Antebellum comes from when the group used to take photos of “antebellum” homes.

Love Don’t Live Here

“Love Don’t Live Here” was the lead single for their self-titled debut album, and quickly shot to the top of the Billboard Country charts, their next album Need You Now did even better than the first with the second single “American Honey” becoming the number one hit on the country charts! In 2008 they won the Country Music Awards New Artist of the Year Award. They also have gone on to win several Grammy Awards including Best Country Album for Need You Now, and Country Song of the Year for “Need You Now.”

Own the Night to Downtown

In 2011 the band announced their third album Own the Night and the group debuted the lead single “This Kiss” on American Idol. The group followed it up last fall with On This Winter’s Night and in January of 2013 released the first single from the upcoming album Downtown.

'We prefer to do things comfortably.'But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.'In fact,' said Mustapha Mond, 'you're claiming the right to be unhappy. Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have ######## and cancer, the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind.' There was a long silence.I claim them all,' said the Savage at last.Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. 'You're welcome,' he said.”  I freaking LOVE Brave New World! It's one of the best books I've ever read, and that conversation between the Controller and John is my favorite part  [s:sm3/1jw1]
