The Vampire Diaries: Season 4, Episode 18 :: American Gothic

Mar 29, 2013

This week on The Vampire Diaries (Season 4, Episode 18), Elena and Rebekah track down Katherine. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “American Gothic”, which aired March 28th, 2013, to find out what you missed.

Unlikely Teammates

As we left off last week, Elena and Rebekah had joined teams to track down Katherine and the cure. In one of the small towns they visit, a woman mistakes Elena for Katherine. They try to get information about when she was there and where she went, but the woman won’t give up any secrets.

They finally run into Katherine, and her and Elena chat about what she really wants: to trade the cure to Klaus in exchange for her life. Rebekah doesn’t buy it – she stabs Katherine’s hand with a fork and steals her phone, which has her calendar on it. Elena decides to pretend to be Katherine (not a hard task) and show up at her next appointment with a person called “em”. Turns out the meeting was with Elijah, and it involved some heavy kissing. But, Elijah can tell it is Elena and is not happy.

Brotherly Adventure

Damon and Stefan are hot on the heels of the girl duo, determined to keep both of them from getting the cure. They agree that their main goal should be to get the old Elena back. They find Katherine and Rebekah at the diner and ask about Elena’s whereabouts. Rebekah explains the situation and the brothers are immediately worried. Katherine takes them back to her house, where they start searching for the cure. She gives Rebekah the cure in exchange for her freedom. She drinks the cure just as Stefan walks into the room. She immediately passes out but wakes up soon after – still a vampire. Katherine gave Rebekah a fake cure, which means the real cure is still out there.

Katherine finally shows up at the meeting with Elijah and snaps Elena’s neck. Then she goes back to the woman Elena and Rebekah originally ran into. Turns out, she was protecting the real cure for Katherine.  She confides in Elijah that she is torn – if she gives Klaus the cure and kills him, she will lose Elijah too. Katherine ends up giving Elijah the cure so he can protect it and make the right decision.

Have Your Say

What do you think Elijah will do with the cure? Will he trust his brother or Katherine? Let us know!

I am tied for nick and disney. I like nick for the fact that it had some good shows like Fairly Oddparents. disney had good shows that brings back good memories but it now has stupid shows with screaming children and overall loud voices, in a bad way.

It depends. I prefer the older shows on Disney and Nick. Most shows that are on Disney and Nick today are stupid in my opinion, If I would watch anything it would be Spongebob and the older shows on Nick and Disney. I can't decide.
