Pokémon Trading Card Game :: The Best Cards in Plasma Freeze Part Two

May 22, 2013

There is more to the recent Plasma Freeze expansion set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game than just Team Plasma Pokémon. Every trainer needs to have the tools of their trade in order to save the day. Here's a run down on some of the important Trainer Items, Supporters, and Stadiums in the Plasma Freeze set.

Tricks and Stones

Team Plasma has a few new tricks up their sleeves with the release of Plasma Freeze. First, the supporter Ghetsis lets you look at your opponent's hand and force them to shuffle away their Trainer Item cards. Additionally, you can draw a card for each Item card that you make them lose, laughing all the way. Team Plasma Ball lets you look for any Team Plasma Pokémon in your deck and put it in your hand. This is handy for grabbing any of the Pokemon mentioned in the previous article and it is one of the reasons why Team Plasma is so strong. With Team Plasma Badge you can make any Pokemon an honorary member of Team Plasma and gain the benefits of cards such as [klwink 28160]Deoxy EX[/kwlink].

Surprisingly, one of the most important cards in Plasma Freeze is not a Team Plasma card. Float Stone is a tool that you can attach to a Pokemon to make their retreat free. While helpful for cards such as Team Plasma's Kyurem, it works the best with Keldeo EX since it allows you to use Keldeo's ability to Rush In and then free retreat for any Pokemon you want.

The Weakest Ace

The Ace Spec cards in the Plasma Freeze set are a bit lacking and unimpressive. Both Life Dew and Rock Guard are tools that can be removed with Tool Scrapper, which makes it too risky to use in place of other Ace Specs, such as Computer Search or Dowsing Machine, which are more useful overall. Finally, the only stadium card in the Plasma Freeze set is Frozen City, which damages any Pokemon that isn't on Team Plasma when attaching energy from the hand. This card can make it painful to be a [kwlink, 28114]Blastoise Rain Dance[/kwlink] player.
