So You Think You Can Dance: Season 10, Week 11: The Top 14 Perform/2 Eliminated

Jul 31, 2013

This week on So You Think You Can Dance (Season 10, Week 11), Twilight's Anna Kendrick joins the panel of judges. Read Kidzworld’s recap of the “The Top 14 Perform/2 Eliminated” which aired on July 30th, 2013, to discover what you missed.

The Performances

Jenna and Tucker opened the show with a Luther Brown hip-hop number. Nigel felt it was unconvincing. There was supposed to be so much feeling in this routine, yet they didn't convey that emotion. Mary felt Nigel was too harsh.

Alexis and Nico performed a Sonya Teyah contemporary piece about a couple breaking up. Nico is moving on from the relationship but Alexis is still madly in love. Mary loved their desperation and fearlessness. Anna couldn't believe they were both in danger this week.

Hayley and Curtis landed an argentine tango. Unfortunately, Curtis injured his shoulder and couldn't perform, so choreographer Leonardo filled his shoes. This routine earned a standing ovation from Mary Murphy. Nigel said that Hayley nailed everything. She was strong, powerful and breathtaking, according to Mary Murphy.

Makenzie and Paul performed a sultry jazz routine by choreographer Sonya. Nigel doesn't understand why America doesn't like Makenzie. Mary agrees; Makenzie has never taken a wrong step. Meanwhile, Paul brought out a new side of himself this week.

Aaron and Jasmine performed a contemporary routine based on the book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, a story about unconditional love. Mary loved Jasmine's quick exchanges with the apple, and Aaron's tenderness. They captured the story well.

Amy and Fik-Shun performed a hip-hop routine about a waitress and customer at a restaurant. Anna called Amy her favorite dancer on the show, even though she did fall during the routine. Nigel noticed that they always play similar characters but he called them one of the great partnerships.

Concluding the show was Malece and Alan, who performed a salsa routine filled with tricks and flips. Fortunately, this was Alan's element so Malece didn't need to worry about being dropped on her head. Nigel noticed that the routine required a ridiculous amount of energy, and Malece was huffing and puffing by the end. Mary called it one of the fastest salsa routines they've seen on the show.

Elimination

The six contestants in danger of elimination this week were Jasmine, Alan, Alexis, Curtis, Makenzie, and Nico. The judges opted to save the boys from performing their solos, though they were still in danger of elimination. However, the judges did send Makenzie to safety again this week, so that only tapper Alexis and jazz dancer Jasmine performed solos. In the end, the judges decided to send two tappers home at once: Alexis and Curtis.
