The CW’s new show The Originals is based around the original family of vampires featured in their hit show The Vampire Diaries. The family originated from the Viking era, and have made many friends and enemies over the centuries since. In America, they decided to settle in New Orleans. They have a past with the Salvatore brothers, which is what originally brought them to Mystic Falls.
The family’s current ringleader is Klaus. The siblings Elijah and Rebekah are usually involved in whatever drama he is dealing with. A whole episode of The Vampire Diaries was dedicated to the new show, setting up the scene for its fall release. Klaus has left Mystic Falls and wants to return to New Orleans, a city his family once loved and controlled. But, in order to take back control, he will have to fight Marcel, the new supernatural leader.
Joseph Morgan stars as Klaus, who wants to become king of the city. He started playing Klaus in the 2011 season of The Vampire Diaries, and has been on the show since then.
Phoebe Tonkin will play Hayley, a werewolf who is pregnant with Klaus’ child. She is best known for her role as Faye on the CW show The Secret Circle.
Charles Michael Davis plays Marcel, the current king of New Orleans. He is best known from his roles in Switched at Birth and Grey’s Anatomy.
