Disney's feel good family comedy, “PLANES,” revved up with high-flying action and adventure, has landed in homes nationwide. Read Kidzworld's review of the Blu-ray combo pack!

The world of Cars takes flight in Planes, Disney's high-flying animated comedy revved up with action and adventure.  Join Dusty, a crop duster with sky-high dreams and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take on the world's fastest flyers in the greatest air race ever. Dusty has a huge heart but two big problems...he's not exactly built for speed, plus he's afraid of heights.  His courage is put to the ultimate test as this unlikely hero aims higher than he ever imagined. With a little help from his friends, Dusty finds the courage to be more than he was built for—and the inspiration to soar.

The Bottom Line

Cars may not have gotten the credit it deserved when it was first released, and we have to say that Planes is in the same category. If you loved the speed, adventure and beautiful animation of Cars then Planes reaches similar heights of accomplishment in terms of visually stunning effects and tricks, and what Planes has in its favor that many critics claimed Cars lacked is a truly likeable main character. Dusty the Cropduster has a lot of integrity and some lofty aspirations coupled with a serious fear of heights (uh oh!), and we experience the dizzying highs and lows of being thrust into the world of air racing alongside him as he conquers his fear - it doesn't get more feel good than that!

Dusty may be the unlikely underdog in this film, especially since his overwhelming kindness often wins out over his desire to beat his opponents, but unlike it's main character Planes isn't an underdog at all - it's a high-powered animated blockbuster and the DVD + Blu-ray combo pack comes with some pretty fantastic bonus material. Stand-outs include "Meet the Racers", a series of featurettes where you get to really know the other contestants. If you're feeling low, Planes is a great way to pick yourself up and soar to new heights - its worth owning for that feeling alone!

"Set in the fictional town of Rosewood, Pennsylvania, the series follows the lives of four girls, Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, Emily Fields, and Spencer Hastings, whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader, Alison DiLaurentis. One year later, the estranged friends are reunited as they begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure named "A", who threatens to expose their deepest secrets, including ones they thought only Alison knew. At first, they think it's Alison herself, but after her body is found, the girls realize that someone else is planning on ruining their perfect lives." It's based off the book series by the same name and it's these girls that get tormented by "A" and it's like a mystery. You'd probably want to start from the beginning or it'd be hard to understand, it's on Netflix.
