The Lone Ranger Blu-ray Combo Pack Review

The Lone Ranger Blu-ray Combo Pack Review - Reviewed by Kidzworld on Dec 16, 2013
( Rating: 4 Star Rating)

Time is Ticking, the Tension is High, and the Ultimate Showdown Between Good and Evil is About to Explode in The Lone Ranger. Read Kidzworld's review of the Blu-ray Combo Pack!

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer star in The Lone Ranger, from Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Director Gore Verbinski. It’s a wild ride of high velocity action, explosions and gunfights that brings the famed masked legend to life through brand-new eyes. The Lone Ranger (Hammer), the last of his kind, teams with Tonto (Depp), a dark and mysterious vigilante, to seek vengeance after justice has failed them. It’s a runaway train of epic surprises, as these two unlikely heroes must learn to work together before the ultimate showdown between good and evil explodes.

The Bottom Line

Action, adventure, humor, storytelling, Johnny Depp - we've got to say, The Lone Ranger has a little something for everyone, no matter what your taste in movies happens to be. The Lone Ranger is the story of the ultimate lawman turned masked legend, and what seemed like a long movie in theaters is actually the perfect film to curl up to on the couch during your winter holidays while it's cold outside - there's nothing like sipping hot cocoa while watching a couple of old west heroes bust in on the bad guys, guns blazing! Many critics were torn on this film, and we've got to say we think it was misunderstood - at its best it almost rivals historical fiction action films like the Indiana Jones movies. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are as watchable as ever, and the bumbling character who finds himself is a story we can all get behind in our hearts, right?

The blu-ray combo pack features some fantastic extra material, more than we expected even, with a blooper reel and deleted scene, and the most fascinating by far, a featurette on how the cast learned to shoot guns and ride like they lived in the iconic Old West called "Becoming a Cowboy." The Lone Ranger Blu-ray Combo Pack definitely makes the grade, and is worth taking home, or giing a second chance if you weren't on board before.

Blu-ray + DVD Bonus Features:

  • Blooper Reel
  • Deleted Scene
  • Riding The Rails Of The Lone Ranger - For the production of the movie, director Gore Verbinski had a five mile oval track built along with multiple engines and cars. See the incredible effort that went into crafting such a detailed and important part of The Lone Ranger.
  • Armies’s Western Road Trip - Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) takes viewers on a tour of the scenic locations the production shot in as we see and learn more about the amazing places he went to become The Lone Ranger.
  • Becoming A Cowboy - Before the cast began shooting the film, they had to learn how to shoot a gun…and ride a horse. In this piece we follow the cowboy (and cowgirl) cast to boot camp, where they got a chance to experience what their characters would really be living like in the Wild West.

I know little to nothing about Tom Hiddleston, but he seems like a really nice guy, and I'd hate for Taylor to ruin his reputation. However, that isn't why I dislike their relationship. I dislike the fact that they are together because Taylor cheated on Calvin Harris with him and is playing the victim, as she does. Once her and Tom split, which they- inevitably- eventually will, she is going to blame it all on him although it will not be his fault. (If Tom is to ever cheat on her, she has absolutely no right to cry and whine about it. Maybe it'll be his fault, but it won't be his fault, if you get what I'm saying.) I give them 2 months until they break up. And it won't be Tom's fault. Hopefully it will happen before I spend a day with Tom so that there is no chance he would bring Taylor with him. Also, yes, she is just using guys for music.
