The Pirate Fairy Blu-ray + DVD Review

The Pirate Fairy Blu-ray + DVD Review - Reviewed by Kidzworld on Mar 31, 2014
( Rating: 4 Star Rating)

Disneys The Pirate Fairy is available on Blu-ray + DVD April 1st! Read Kidzworlds review, watch clips and check out a shipload of fun Arrr-ctivities!

From the world of Peter Pan comes The Pirate Fairy, a swashbuckling new adventure about Zarina (voice of Christina Hendricks), a smart and ambitious dust-keeper fairy who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina’s wild ideas get her into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, who make her captain of their ship. Tinker Bell (voice of Mae Whitman) and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword with the band of pirates led by a cabin boy named James (voice of Tom Hiddleston), who’ll soon be known as Captain Hook himself.

The Bottom Line

We love the world of Pixie Hollow, so even though it took 4 years for a new installment in this series to appear, we were still excited to see what kinds of hijinx Tinker Bell and her fairy friends would get up to, and The Pirate Fairy has more than enough great tunes and adventure to ensure that everyone has a good time watching it. The all-star voice cast featuring Tom Hiddleston, Raven Symone and Christina Hendricks only adds to the film's charm, and the younger versions of characters like Captain Hook are delightful.

Although we wouldn't call it a classic (it isn't Peter Pan after all, just one of the sequels about Never Land)  it's guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and that alone should save it a spot in your DVD/Blu-ray collection.

“Instruction in world history in the so-called high schools is even today in a very sorry condition. Few teachers understand that the study of history can never be to learn historical dates and events by heart and recite them by rote; that what matters is not whether the child knows exactly when this battle or that was fought, when a general was born, or even when a monarch (usually a very insignificant one) came into the crown of his forefathers. No, by the living God, this is very unimportant. To 'learn' history means to seek and find the forces which are the causes leading to those effects which we subsequently perceive as historical events.”
