Uncharted 4 Director Making Star Wars Game

Apr 03, 2014

Star Wars fans rejoice! Amy Hennig is the new creative director at Visceral Games (Dead Space series) and their next project as a team is a brand new, 3rd-person Star Wars action game.

Amy couldn't be more excited and took to her twitter today to let out the news.

"It's a privilege to have the opportunity to contribute to the Star Wars universe, after it's had such a formative influence on my life." Amy goes on to say "I vividly remember sitting in a theater with my buddy in 1976, seeing the Star Wars trailer for the first time and feeling like the universe clicked into place for me in that moment"

Amy Hennig had served as creative director at Naughty Dog, one of the worlds leading game developers, for 10 glorious years. She was the creative driving force behind the uber popular Uncharted series, having written and directed Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3. Amy was writing Uncharted 4 as she left Naughty Dog and knows how to craft wonderful gaming experiences around thoughtful, interesting stories with deep, dynamic characters. Her involvement and influence on Visceral Games new Star Wars game will be apparent from the start.

"Two amazing things entered my life in 1977 - Star Wars and the Atari 2600. This opportunity is the confluence of the 2 most influential experiences of my youth, and I couldn't be more excited to go on this journey." says Amy.

Visceral Games VP Steve Papoutsis also chimed in with some nice words about this breaking news on EA.com.

"Over the last few weeks, Amy and I have spent a lot of time talking about what her first project would be. There are a lot of different directions we could have gone, but I could sense that what really excited her about this opportunity (because let’s face it, we weren’t the only ones knocking at her door) was Star Wars. Amy’s a huge fan. We happen to be making a Star Wars game. Just thinking about the possibilities made both of us even more excited about having her join the team."

Great news all around and I can't wait to see what Amy Hennig and her new team at VIsceral come up with for us gamers and Star Wars fans alike. There have been many Star Wars games over the years including LEGO Star Wars games, and the better-off forgotten, Kinect Star Wars dance game but it's been a long while since gamers have had a truly great Star Wars game. Our time is now!
