PADDINGTON tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear who travels to London in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined until he meets the kindly Brown family (Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins) who take him home after reading the label around his neck. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rare talking bear catches the eye of Millicent (Nicole Kidman), a museum taxidermist.

The Bottom Line

Parents, and even Grandparents, all know that Paddington Bear has a long history, and has been a staple of kids books for decades. He's one of the most loveable characters in kids' lit! Paddington Bear was first introduced to children in Michael Bond’s 1958 book, A Bear Called Paddington and the subsequent Paddington Bear series has sold over 35 million copies and been translated into 40 languages - so it's safe to say that even though this is his first time on the big screen, he's pretty famous.

This film is the first time Paddington has come to the big screen, author Michael Bond has given his blessing for his beloved characters to come to life in a new way - and the result is charming and wonderful! The animation is incredibly detailed, and looks great in Blu-ray, so it's definitely worth watching at home to catch all those special touches on our favorite bear.

One thing this film is not short on is heart - just like the books  - and when it comes to villains, we especially loved Nicole Kidman as a psychotic taxidermist! Finding out if these tough Londoners have enough room in their hearts for the sweet Peruvian bear who loves marmalade sandwiches is guaranteed to give you some warm fuzzy feelings. A great choice for the whole family.
