Video Game Voice Actors Vote to Strike

Your favorite voice actors for video games have voted to strike. Now, that doesn’t mean it’s happening yet. It just means that the National Board the authority to do so. SAG-AFTRA Union members voted 96.52 percent in favor of the strike. Here is part of the official announcemen”t

“It is important to note that the referendum result does not mean that members are on strike, rather, it gives the National Board the authority to declare a strike.  A 75% “yes” vote was required to give the National Board that authority.

With this result in hand, the Negotiating Committee will seek to return to the bargaining table and continue to press for a fair resolution on behalf of performers working in video games. The Interactive Media Agreement expired on December 31st, 2014. Bargaining sessions held in February and June of this year failed to produce an agreement.”

So, what are they asking for? The union would like bonus pay for games that sell more than two million copies, stun coordinators for possibly dangerous motion capture sessions, knowing the title of the game they’re auditioning for and limits on vocally stressful recording sessions. You can check out all the info here.
