It was obvious since she was young that she had musical talent - in fact she picked up her first guitar at the age of 10, teaching herself to play songs. When she hit 13-years-old Alessia had created her own YouTube channel to show the world what she could do, playing mostly covers.

Soul Stylings

Alessia's sound has both R&B and jazz influences, but more than that it would have to be called modern soul. Her first hit single "Here" - which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard charts in 2015, is a soulful take on what it's like to be the outsider at a party. As we've all experienced, sometimes it'd just feel better to be at home!

“‘Here is a true story. It’s a party song, but really it’s the complete opposite of a party song. It’s absolutely me; it shouts out the person in the corner of the party, looking around uncomfortably. I feel like this song narrates what the wallflower is thinking.”

Four Pink Walls and Know-it-All

"Here" was released on the EP Four Pink Walls, and in November 2015 Alessia went on to release her first official album Know-It-All.

Where did the name "Four Pink Walls" come from? Alessia was talking about her bedroom!

"As a kid I would always be in my bedroom constantly staring at the same four pink walls in it, aspiring to do all of these things. I had big dreams, and my dreams were bigger than what my life was at the time. I didn't understand why my life wasn't more interesting, but I was so oblivious to life outside of my bedroom because I was always there. I had to go about living my dreams."
