Are the new Power Rangers mighty, as in Morphin or lost, as in Galaxy? Now you can check out this year's model on DVD, with the release of Power Rangers: Prelude To A Storm, There's No "I" In Team and Beauty And The Beach.

Take one part Mucha Lucha and one part Rocket Power and you've got this year's model of Power Rangers. After their secret ninja school is wiped out by evil Lothor (not Lothan like it says on the DVD case,) and their ninja master is turned into a ninja guinea pig, no lie, three misfit students (punctuality problems) are given the Power Ranger treatment and Ninja Storm is born. In Power Rangers: Prelude To A Storm, we meet newbie Rangers Tori, Shane and Dustin as they try to defeat former ninja Lothor and his alien army. In episode 2, There's No "I" In Team, Shane learns the hard way that he can't battle big, bad magnet dudes alone. And finally in Beauty And The Beach, Lothor's kooky nieces Kapri and Marah create a Tori clone to do wacky, bad stuff. Ninja Storm is a campy throw-back to the days of Zordon, Alpha and Rita Repulsa except these Rangers spend more time pursuing their extreme hobbies and bonding than fighting the forces of evil. On a Ranger scale of Turbo to Time Force, with Time Force being tops, Ninja Storm: Prelude To A Storm rates somewhere between Lightspeed and Wild Force. Or, a six out of ten, for all those who have never been to Angel Grove.
